Maurizio Mensi is member of the Legal Service of the European Commission in Brussels. Full Professor of Law & Economics at Italian National School of Administration (2005-2017), he teaches Information and Communications Law at Luiss Guido Carli University of Rome (since 2005), where he is responsible of @LawLab, a research center on cyber law, particularly focused on data privacy, cyber security, media and telecommunications. From 1988 to 1989 he has been working as State Attorney (Catania), from 1989 to 1994 as official of the European Commission and member of its Legal Service. Then, from 1994 to 1999, he served as State Lawyer (Venice). In 1998 he was appointed Legal Director of the Italian regulatory Communications Authority (AgCom), until 2005. Attorney qualified before the Italian Supreme Court, he is TAIEX expert (Technical Assistance Information Exchange Office) of the European Commission, advising local governments to improve their legislation and draft recommendations on economic governance, streamlining procedures and enhancing transparency in public administration. Author of numerous publications (articles and books) on telecommunications, media, competition, public procurement.
