Elio Catania is Chairman of Confindustria Digitale, the Federation of Ict companies in Italy. He graduated in Electro-technical Engineering at the ‘La Sapienza’ University in Rome, had gained his Master's Degree of Management Science at the ‘Sloan Fellow School’ of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston. He has spent most of his management career in IBM where he reached Top Management positions as President of IBM Latin America, South Europe and Italy and became Member of the Worldwide Management Council. He has been Chairman and CEO of Ferrovie dello Stato, Chairman and CEO of the ATM Group Milan Transport Company and Deputy Chairman of Alitalia. He served as Board Member and member of the Executive Committee of Telecom Italia and as Board Member of Intesa Sanpaolo. Knight of Labour, he is Member of the Executive Committee of Assonime and of the Executive Committee of the Council for the United States and Italy, and Member of the Board of Directors of Fondazione Asphi Onlus (Italian Foundation for projects aimed at reducing disabilities through to the information technology).
