Barbara Carfagna is a journalist and TV host for Rai, she realized reportages for TV7 and Speciale TG1. She is author and anchor of CODE, a late night TV program on Rai1; and also of INFOSFERA, a program on digital terrestrial television.
She began her journalistic career on Rai, starting from the editorial office of Rai2 L’altra Edicola (1995) and following Giovanni Minoli’s footsteps, with which she worked at Mixer.
In 1998 she was a reporter for TG1’s Prima. Under the direction of Albino Longhi she moved to TV7 and Speciale TG1, dealing with most important italian’s news and working on further news reports in Ethiopia, Niger (where she realized reportages about fundamentalist Islam’s expansion), Nigeria (where she made an exclusive interview to Safya, the woman sentenced to stoning for adultery), South Africa, Cambodia (where she made historical and trafficking of children documentaries) and Germany (about neo-Nazism into former East Germany).
For Rai Educational (now Rai Cultura) she has produced and realised reportages about the French colonies in Africa.
She has collaborated with Unomattina, Porta a Porta and Chi l’ha visto?.
In 2004 Clemente Mimun chose her for the Tg1’s newsroom.
She dealt with crime beats, trial chronicles and mysteries in Italy.
Gianni Riotta entrusted her the conduction of Tg1 and the Italia Italie column on the issue of immigration.
She worked for TV7 and Speciale TG1 columns, with particular attention to scientific dissemination, philosophy, politics and digital economy.
She wrote for printed press like La Quarta e Il Quirino, then Il Giornale, L’Opinione, Diario, Sette del Corriere.
She is collaborating with Italiana, Il Foglio, Panorama, Formiche on issues of politics, economics and digital societies.
She realized economics and finance reports on sovereign wealth funds in the United Arab Emirates, cyberwar at Brussels’s NATO, digital policies and start-ups in Silicon Valley, Pittsburgh, Israel, Singapore, UAE, Japan interviewing professors and researchers in the laboratories of the main Universities of the world.
She collaborated with TG1 Storia and TG1 Dialogo columns, curated by Roberto Olla.
For Rai1, in 2013, she has conducted the Premio Luchetta’s event.
She has been member of the Board of Directors of the Vedrò think tank and others more (Aspen, Formiche, Italiacamp).
She teaches digital and cybersecurity disciplines in US, Tel Aviv and Italy (for Armed Forces and private companies)
From 2017 she is also the author and host for Code (Rai 1) about digital companies, web and technology.
