Section Manager - Cybersecurity in Aviation & Emerging Risks, EASA, Germany

Gian Andrea has been working in aviation for 30 years and manages, since November 2021, the EASA team dealing with Cybersecurity in Aviation, which includes rulemaking, information sharing, threats identification, capacity building and research. Aviation Security and Conflict Zones are also within his responsibilities. Before that, he has managed for 2 years the EASA Digitalisation Programme. He joined EASA in 2007 and covered many positions in Standardisation until becoming the coordinator of all the Standardisation activities performed by EASA, including the liaison with the European Commission and the development of new methods. He was also deeply engaged in Safety Management and was the EASA focal point for Risk Based Oversight. As part of his experience, he worked in the industry between 2002 and 2007: as technical and quality manager in a regional airline and as general manager in a business operator. He holds a Master degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino and a Master in Aviation Law from the University of Modena.
