Lt. Col. Antonio Ianniello

Lt. Col. Antonio IANNIELLO was born in Caserta, Italy, in 1976. After attending Liceo Ginnasio “Cneo Nevio” in Santa Maria Capua Vetere from 1989 to 1994, he joined the Italian Air Force attending the Air Force Academy from 1996 to 2002 with the “Turbine IV” Course and the University of Naples “Federico II” Faculty of Engineering, Department of Software and Computer Engineering where he graduated with an experimental thesis on reverse engineering of legacy applications. He also holds a Master in “International Humanitarian Law and Peacekeeping”, a Master in Numerical Computing “Understanding and communicating: Methods, models and Ideas of IT”, a Master in “Organisation, Management and Innovation in Public Administration” and a Master in “Management and E-Governance in Public Administration” in addition to the master in “International Relationships achieved at University of Turin during the Joint Staff Course. In 2002 he was assigned to Pratica di Mare Air Force Base (Rome) where until 2015 he served in numerous positions in the Command and Control Systems Automation Group (Gr.A.S.C.C.) and, from 2009, in the Command and Control Systems Management and Innovation Department (Re.G.I.S.C.C.) where he also held the position of Commander of the C4ISR systems innovation, development and experimentation group (Gr.I.S.S. C4ISR) from 2012 to 2015. During that period, he directed the research and development team of the first Italian Defence prototype of Information Exchange Gateway (IEG) for the exchange of classified information in a multi-level environment and also directed the development and release to production of the Italian Air Force command and control system ITAF Air C2IS “Blade Runner” for the management of operational flight activity currently in production in Airspace Operations HQs in Poggio Renatico and all Commands and Wings of the Italian Air Force. In 2015 Lt.Col. Antonio IANNIELLO was assigned to NATO NETMA (NATO Eurofighter 2000 and Tornado Management Agency) in Hallbergmoos, Germany, in the position of Information Technology Applications Manager where he was responsible for all IT Enterprise applications supporting the Eurofighter and Tornado multinational programs. In 2019 he was assigned to Secretariat General of Defence and National Armaments Directorate where, he firstly attended the Joint Defence Staff Course, and then he has assumed the position of Head of the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems Section in the C5ISTAR Program Office of the 4th Department. Since the beginning of Italy's involvement in the FCAS TEMPEST program, later renamed GCAP, he was involved as responsible for the design of the international classified systems and digital engineering applications to support the development of the sixth-generation fighter system of systems. In 2021 he took on the role of Head of the Technological Development Section in the newly established FCAS TEMPEST Program Directorate within the 4th Department and, at the same time, was appointed CIS security and Information Assurance manager. Lieutenant Colonel IANNIELLO holds certifications in Project Management PRINCE2 Foundation, PRINCE2 Practioner, MSP Foundation, MOP Foundation, MOR Foundation, RESILIA Foundation, COBIT5, ITILv3 Foundation, PRINCE2 Agile Foundation and ISIPM-Base. He is awarded the following medals and decorations: • Gold Cross for 25 years of military service; • Silver Medal of Merit for Long Command (15 years); • NATO Medal – Former Yugoslavia; • NATO Medal - Unified Protector (Libya) and Commemorative Badge; • Bronze medal of the Italian Civil Protection. • Ribbon for service in the joint forces area • Several praises and commendations.
