Since November 2021 is responsible for the EASA team dealing with Cybersecurity in Aviation, which includes rulemaking, information sharing, threats identification, capacity building and research. In addition, Security and Conflict Zones are also under his responsibility. He joined EASA in 2007 as Standardisation Team Leader in Airworthiness, later moving to coordination of the complete process, including Safety Management and in Risk Based Oversight. As part of his experience, he worked in the industry as technical and quality manager in a regional airline and as general manager in a business operator. Gian Andrea started in Aviation in 1992 as an airworthiness inspector with the Italian CAA. During the next ten years his activities ranged from airworthiness to maintenance and operations (both helicopters and airplanes) with some involvement in type certification. He holds a Master degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino and a Master in Aviation Law from the University of Modena.
