Gian Andrea Bandieri

Section Manager, Cybersecurity in Aviation & Emerging Risks, European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Germany

Since November 2021, Gian Andrea Bandieri has led the EASA team responsible for cybersecurity in aviation, overseeing rulemaking, information sharing, threat identification, capacity building, and research. He also manages security and conflict zones.
Bandieri joined EASA in 2007 as a Standardisation Team Leader in Airworthiness. He later became responsible for coordinating the entire EASA standardization process, gaining expertise in safety management and risk-based oversight. Before joining EASA, Bandieri worked in the industry as a technical and quality manager for a regional airline and as general manager for a business operator.
Bandieri began his career in aviation in 1992 as an airworthiness inspector with the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), where over the next decade he worked across airworthiness, maintenance, and operations for both helicopters and airplanes, with some involvement in type certification. He holds a master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino and a master’s in Aviation Law from the University of Modena.
