Hon. Matteo Perego di Cremnago

Undersecretary of state for Defence, Italy

Born in Milan on August 18, 1982, Matteo Perego di Cremnago graduated in Philosophy at the University of Milan. Subsequently, he obtained two Executive Masters in Marketing and Corporate Finance at the School of Business Management of the Bocconi University. Before embarking on an entrepreneurial career at the company founded by his great-great-grandfather – the Cambiaghi hat factory – he worked at Giorgio Armani, where he covered various roles, including Trade Marketing and Customer Relationship Management Director, E-Commerce Director, General Manager Giorgio Armani India and Chief Operating Officer Giorgio Armani Brazil. In 2018 he was elected Deputy and assumed the position of member of the IV Defense Commission until the end of the legislature. From 22 November 2021 to 12 October 2022 he also joined the III Commission for Foreign and Community Affairs. He is the first signatory of the law on the so-called Mini-Naja, approved by the Chamber of Deputies on 27 March 2019, which launches an experimental project for the creation of six-month military training courses for young people between 18 and 22 years of age. He is the first signatory of the resolutions in the Defense Commission of the Chamber of Deputies for the establishment of the Military Rescuer of the Special Forces in the Armed Forces, of the figure of the Veteran and the recognition of greater economic allowances for the Special Forces. On 15 October 2018 he was appointed Deputy Regional Coordinator of Forza Italia in Lombardy, a role he held until 11 June 2019. Since 31 March 2021 he has been Vice President of the Forza Italia Group in the Chamber of Deputies. On 21 April 2022 he was appointed National Head of the Defense Department of Forza Italia. On 27 July 2022 he was awarded the honorary patent of "Target Acquisitor" by the 185th Parachute Regiment Reconnaissance Target Acquisition "Folgore" of the Special Forces of the Italian Army. On 31 October 2022 he was appointed Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Defense in the Meloni government.
