Since 2018, Dr Sibel Kocatepe has worked in BaFin's IT Supervision Group, heading the division responsible for the national and European oversight of systemically important IT service providers for the financial sector. She is specialised in IT outsourcing, particularly to the cloud, and the associated regulatory and legal requirements. She also represents BaFin in various national and international working groups and is involved in European work on the oversight framework for critical third-party ICT service providers under the Digital Operational Resilience Act. Prior to joining BaFin, Dr Kocatepe completed her doctorate in a special research area funded by the German Research Foundation. Until her second state examination at the Higher Regional Court of Cologne in 2014, she held positions at the Federal Ministry of the Interior and KPMG, among others. Following her first state examination, she completed a Master of Laws in Commercial Law at Istanbul University. During her studies of law at the University of Bonn, she spent a semester at the European Parliament in Brussels, working particularly for the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
