Director of the Safety & Security Department, Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC), Italy
Ing. Sebastiano Veccia is Director of Security at the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC), where he has worked since 1988 and has held managerial positions since 2005. An electronic engineering graduate, he has extensive experience in aviation security, regulation, and international cooperation.
In his current role, Veccia represents Italy at the European Commission’s Aviation Security Committee and at the ICAO Aviation Security Panel, and serves as an observer on the ICAO Cybersecurity Panel. He is also Italy’s representative at the ECAC Security Forum and the EU Commission’s Integrated Risk Assessment Group (IRAG), which conducts security assessments in conflict areas.
Throughout his career, Veccia has led key national initiatives, including the certification of airport security equipment, updates to Italy’s National Security Plan, agreements with foreign states regarding onboard security officers, and the development of alternative security measures for smaller airports and restricted areas.
Previously, he held several senior leadership positions at ENAC, including Director of Airports and Airspace Regulation, Director of Flight Operations and Personnel Licensing Regulation, Director of Information Systems, and Director of Rome Operations.
