Member, European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), Italy
Maurizio Mensi is a Member and Quaestor of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), where he serves on the Single Market Enforcement Observatory (SMEO). He has acted as rapporteur on major EU digital, cybersecurity, and defense initiatives, including the NIS 2 Directive, the Cyber Resilience Act, and the European Defence Industrial Strategy, and has contributed to key legislative files such as the AI Act and the Data Act.
Mensi is Professor of Law & Economics at Italy's National School of Administration (SNA) and Adjunct Professor of Information and Communications Law at LUISS Guido Carli University, where he directs the @LawLab Digital Law Research Centre.
Previously, he served in the Legal Service of the European Commission and as Legal Director at Italy's Communications Regulatory Authority (AGCOM). He is also an EU CyberNet expert and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Aspen Institute's International Observatory on AI.
Mensi is the author of numerous books and publications on electronic communications, digital regulation, emerging technologies, and cybersecurity.
