Ettore Sala

Head of the Justice Technology Innovation Department, Italian Ministry of Justice, Italy

Ettore Sala graduated with honors in electronic engineering from La Sapienza University of Rome in 1986. He won the Italian Industrial Robotics Association's SIRI award for the best thesis on robotics. In 1994, he earned an MBA from LUISS Business School in Rome.
For over 15 years, Sala worked in aerospace and advanced information technologies, leading projects in Italy, Belgium, and France. He held key roles in the European Space Agency's projects and at CISI and CS Communication & Systems.
From 2001 to 2005, he helped launch the new University Hospital at Tor Vergata as IT Service Director. He also played a pivotal role in founding the IT company for the Lazio Region, leading several divisions, including health information systems.
Sala taught at the University of Rome Tor Vergata's Faculty of Medicine for seven years. From 2013 to 2015, he managed the Information Systems area for Lazio's Central Purchasing Directorate.
In 2015, he contributed to the startup of LAZIOcrea Spa and later became the Chief Information Security Officer for the Lazio Region. Since 2023, Sala has led the Justice Technology Innovation Department at Italy's Ministry of Justice, overseeing the digitization of justice-related processes.
