Director, Agenzia per le Erogazioni in Agricoltura (AGEA), Italy
Fabio Vitale has served as Director of the Italian Agency for Agricultural Payments (AGEA) since December 2022. He has a multidisciplinary academic background, holding degrees in sociology, economics, and law, as well as an MBA and postgraduate qualifications in finance and management control. He is also registered with the Italian Order of Journalists as a freelance journalist.
Previously, Vitale served as Director General for the Supervision of Cooperative Entities and Companies at the Italian Ministry of Economic Development. He has extensive experience in the Italian Public Administration, particularly at the National Social Security Institute (INPS), where he held numerous senior positions at both central and regional levels.
At AGEA, Vitale has focused his work on three key priorities: the digitalization of systems to accelerate payments, the simplification of administrative procedures, and the fight against fraud. He has also laid the foundations for a significant internal reorganization, introducing dedicated control mechanisms and strategic planning tools.
Vitale’s objective is to place farmers at the heart of policymakers’ strategies.
